Samantha primarily works in the area of land development, condominium development, commercial transactions and residential transactions. She assists with lenders and corporate/individual clients with any real estate needs. She also has previous experience working in litigation, family law, and wills and estates law, which allows her to have a broad perspective in her work.
A negotiator at her core, Samantha enjoys working with all parties to discuss and resolve potential problems and close deals. She seeks to get the full story from her clients so that she can get a complete picture and prevent unexpected surprises. She likes taking a personal hand in matters wherever possible by managing communications herself, building trust with clients and stakeholders and assembling all the information that she needs.
Before becoming a lawyer, Samantha had worked in international organizations (WTO, ITU, APEC and UNESCAP) and in a government as an international IT policy consultant and researcher. She regularly worked with lawyers and experienced the lawyer-client relationship from the other side. This positive experience played a role in inspiring her to study law and become a lawyer herself, so that she could help others with their legal needs.
Originally from South Korea, Samantha studied in Sweden, Japan and South Korea. She has B.A. and M.A. degrees in Political Science. She obtained her J.D. from the University of Toronto. She is now proud to call Waterloo home. Outside of the office she enjoys doing family activities together with her husband and her son.
